"The Old Oak" is a special place: It is not only the last surviving pub, but also the only remaining public space where people can meet in a once thriving mining community. When the pub, without prior notice, becomes a shelter for Syrian refugees, pub landlord TJ witnesses a wave of racist hatred break loose. Will TJ be able to stop the division within the community?
At the age of 87, Ken Loach, the old master of socio-critical cinema, delivers a moving social drama on the fragility and hopes of today's society - a film that teaches us to pull together at the right time!
