Following the death of his mother, young Nabil moves from Cairo to Toronto to live with his father, a successful architect. By chance, Nabil meets Malibu, a trans* drag queen who wants to save her bar - and legendary meeting place of the LGBTQ+ community - from demolition. The fact that she sews her stage outfits herself reminds Nabil of his mother, who was a seamstress and fashion designer. Nabil has a sketchbook and wants to realise his mother's ideas with Malibu's help. The friendship with Malibu grows and Nabil's search for his own queer identity begins...until his very conservative father and the religious Egyptian community finally find out about Nabil's "false friend".

Director's Biography:Reem Morsi is a writer/director with a varied career that spans from professional diving/underwater photography, to working for human rights at the UN, to a career as a writer and director, her lifelong passion.
