In 1998, the electronica duo Air took the world on a Moon Safari. But where do the roots of Air, Phoenix, Daft Punk, Superdiscount, Nouvelle Vague and Alex Gopher, the stars of the "French Touch", lie? In Versailles! WHY VERSAILLES? Marc Collin explores this question in his second directorial work, balancing fact and fiction with virtuosity. Collin, himself part of this music scene in the 80s/90s, says about his cinematic search for traces: "The main message of the film is a journey where young people come together. When they saw the success of their friends, other young people were encouraged. Actually, I wanted to tell the story of this mutual influencing of young people."

Director's Biography:Marc Collin is a French musician, arranger, producer, film music composer and director. Since 2004, he has enjoyed great success with the band Nouvelle Vague, which covers songs from the New Wave era in the bossa nova style. In 2019 Collin made his directorial debut.
