The threads that at first playfully run through the garden gradually become a net in which the protagonists slowly become entangled. In her debut film, Katharina Lüdin artfully directs her focus on two women who have become strangers to each other and who nevertheless cannot (yet) detach themselves from one another. Merit longs for something new. She can no longer stand Eva and humiliates her. We watch the two women, as if in real time, as they perform unadorned and unspectacularly. The numbed relationships find expression in long camera shots, as if they were paintings, with clear pictorial compositions and image lines and faces that are like still lifes, reflecting so much of the vulnerability and forlornness.
