“I can do everything” is the set phrase with which Carmela keeps reality at arms length, proud and wild like an Amazon. In Portici, Naples, she lives with her daughter and her mother under precarious circumstances. Therefore, Carmela joins a Visa dealer ring. But is this really a chance to escape her fate? Sannino’s Carmela is not only based on a real person but also echoes women in films such as Pasolini’s MAMMA ROMA: “Women who fight, who bring chaos into their lives, who are driven by desires; a confused, yet very present dream – a dream that waits to come true, maybe in another life”, so Sannino.
