In his new masterpiece, which won the Special Jury Prize in Venice in 2022, Jafar Panahi takes us to an Iranian village on the Turkish border. He himself plays the director of a film about two lovers who want to flee to France with forged passports. The filming takes place on the Turkish side and he accompanies the action via an unstable internet connection. Surprisingly, he becomes the target of the village community by unintentionally endangering a "promised" marriage.

Panahi once again succeeds in conveying the political situation in Iran through his personal situation, whilst telling two gripping and also amusing stories along the way.

Director's Biography:Jafar Panahi, was born 1960 and is an independent filmmaker in Iran. He critically examines politics and society. Sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment and 20 years' disbarment for "propaganda against the regime" and released in February 2023 after a hunger strike.
