The four-part documentary BUILDING VISIONS deals with visionary approaches in architecture and urban development. We will show two parts with local connections: The first episode, ROTTERDAM, highlights the city of Rotterdam's efforts to build resilience and biodiversity in times of growing threats from rising sea levels and more frequent heavy rainfall events. The second episode, WIEN (SEESTADT), shows the city of Vienna's response to the sharp increase in demand for housing while at the same time placing high demands on sustainability. This will be followed by a discussion panel on sustainable urban development and architecture in the region with two experts from Braunschweig. The two episodes shown of the documentary BUILDING VISIONS on the topic of sustainable urban development are an ideal prelude to an expert discussion on the subject. In times of unprecedented heavy rainfall events such as the storm of 22 June this year, as well as the discussion about a more stringent Building Energy Act, it is worth looking at regional development. Together with local experts, we want to shed light on the status quo, opportunities and risks in the field of architecture, the building world and urban development.

Director's Biography:The documentary filmmaker Diego Breit Lira is originally from Chile. He studied at the Film Academy in Vienna and has since produced award-winning short films. In 2015 he founded the production company Glaciar Films. His projects include video installations and documentaries.
