On Friday, September 29, cinema lovers can look forward to a special movie night. In cooperation with the Braunschweig International Film Festival (BIFF), the Planetarium Wolfsburg will show the Oscar-winning science fiction classic ALIEN
In this special event, viewers will follow the nerve-wracking journey of the crew of the spaceship Nostromo in the Planetarium as they encounter a mysterious alien creature on a remote planet that defies imagination. In the film, the alien being designed by Hans Rudolf Giger develops into a total threat and becomes the archetype of utopian horror in the science fiction genre. ALIEN not only revolutionized the genre, but also placed a strong female figure at the center for the first time - a milestone in cinema.
Cinema experience in a unique ambience
The Planetarium Wolfsburg enables the return of this classic in a more than extraordinary setting. "ALIEN is a science fiction masterpiece, known for its gripping build-up of suspense and its indescribable atmosphere. The Planetarium simply provides the perfect setting to capture this atmosphere," enthuses Eileen Pollex, Managing Director of the Wolfsburg Planetarium, in anticipation of the planetary movie evening. "By showing such science fiction classics, we also want to introduce new visitors:inside to the special ambience of our planetarium." In March, the Wolfsburg Planetarium had already shown Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY in cooperation with the Braunschweig International Film Festival. A complete success, as co-festival director Karina Gauerhof reports: "The planetary film evening exceeded all our expectations. The dome of the planetarium completely captivated the visitors and made for an incredibly immersive movie night."
Preparations for the 37th Braunschweig International Film Festival in full swing
The collaboration with the Wolfsburg Planetarium marks an exciting start to the hot preparatory phase of the 37th Braunschweig International Film Festival. "With our special events, we want to offer film fans a taste of the fantastic film experiences at the film festival. There would hardly be a better opportunity for this than to show this classic film in such a special location as the Planetarium," outlines co-festival director Anke Hagenbüchner-Sobiech, full of anticipation for the screening in the Planetarium.
On November 6, the film festival will start with an opening concert of Michael Dudok de Wit's THE RED TURTLE. For the first time, the music by Laurent Perez Del Mar, which was awarded by the "International Film Music Critics Association", will be performed live to the film, accompanied by the Braunschweig State Orchestra. Afterwards, festival visitors can look forward to a week-long film festival with highlights from all genres as well as a rich supporting program.
