Two detectives working in the Cape Town murder squad, Ali Neumann and Brian Epkeen, are investigating the murder of a 20-year-old white girl. In the course of their inquiries they find themselves plunging deeper and deeper into a thicket of brutal violence and crime, whose origin can be traced back to the era of full apartheid.
