Every night, hundreds of people are washed up in small boats on the coast of the tropical island of Mayotte, a department of France – among them baby Moses. The French nurse Marie takes him in and raises him as her own son. Moses is 13 when his adoptive mother suddenly dies. He ends up in the slums, where many children are completely on their own. In order to survive there, he must join the gang's tyrannical leader and follow his rules. Can Moses be saved a second time? TROPIC OF VIOLENCE is the first feature film shot on Mayotte - an absolutely captivating debut about the CITY OF GOD of France.
