Millions of migrants harvest fruit and vegetables in Europe. Without contracts and often under precarious conditions, they move from field to field and ensure the variety of produce in our supermarkets independent of season. The documentary film portrays workers such as Naveed, who has been harvesting olives in Greece for eight years without papers, and Bahija, who does not receive a minimum wage despite having a contract. “You can't see the reality, it's hidden,” says the president of the Andalusian agricultural workers’ union about his industry. The documentary THE PICKERS reveals the exploitation in the supply chains and poses the question: Can fair production, as Pape is attempting in Italy, become the new normal?
