In rural seclusion somewhere in Europe, two lesbian entomologists live in a mansion. Every day follows the same sadomasochistic pattern. But as time goes by, there are shifts in the power structure ... "Embedded in beguilingly beautiful landscape shots, the sensual film, staged with bizarre surreal inserts, creates a dream-like world that resembles a parallel universe." (FILMDIENST). In his third feature film, Strickland sublimates influences from Luis Buñuel to Jess Franco into a poetically complex homage to the erotic cinema of the 1970s. The alternative pop duo Cat's Eyes received the European Film Award for Best Composer 2015 for the music.
