One hand on the wheel of his vehicle, his mobile phone to his ear - this is how Hamouda speeds through the dusty desert in the south of the West Bank at breathtaking speed. From a hilltop, Ali gives him directions to where Israeli military are. On the back seat are passengers he takes across the border into Israel. For the people in the completely impoverished region around Jenba, it is the only possibility to find work or medical care, and for the "devil’s drivers" it is a source of income. A hand-held camera in the car gives the impression of being in the middle of the action. The film impresses with its strong characters, the power of family ties and the resilience of the community. Co-producer Niklas Krüger was born in Braunschweig.

Director's Biography:Mohammed Abugeth worked as a stage technician at Idioms Films in Ramallah, then as a TV journalist for arte and DW. Photographer Daniel Carsenty was a TV journalist in the Middle East. Studied at the American Film Institute and the Babelsberg Film University. He was nominated for the First Steps Award with his graduation film KAFKANISTAN.
