HAMAKAH HASHMONIM VEAHAT is a perfect example for a neglected milestone: A collage of historic materials concerning the general Nazi terror and especially the Holocaust composed to some kind of musical drama – testimonies about the crimes of Adolf Eichmann were arranged to songs, which drive the movie and its narrative. A cinematic work, that caused quite a stir (nominee as best documentary for the 1974’s Oscars) but was aesthetically too far apart from everything that was considered consensus to manifest itself in history. Long forgotten, this movie was digitally made available again and grows to be a grand discovery.
