Udo Kier plays retired hairdresser Pat Pitsenbarger with a wonderful accent. He is asked to style the hair of a deceased female customer one last time. Initially reluctant, he sets off to organise the necessary utensils. In the process, Pat not only has to confront the ghosts of his past - some of which he allows to rise from the dead - but also to come to terms with the small changes in his hometown of Sandusky, Ohio, and its new residents. The whole story is presented in quirky, humorous images that lovingly explore the various clichés, thereby demonstrating that the acceptance of homosexuality in society is also changing. SWAN SONG was an audience favourite at the 35th BIFF.
