The story of an old married couple in remote Uzbekistan could be set anywhere in the world: After years of working on the farm, everyday life becomes much more difficult, and illnesses and dependencies on neighbours and doctors increase. Even their sons rarely show up - usually only to bring their parents newfangled gadgets, which instead of bringing them relief only mean more aggravation. Almost without dialogue, SUNDAY shows the couple with all their quirks and mutual teasing. The film does not thereby embellish anything, but allows us to surmise what holds the relationship together at its core. Entertaining and extremely humorous.

Director's Biography:Shokir Kholikov is Uzbek and studied film directing in Tashkent. His short films and documentaries have already won him prizes at international festivals. His feature film debut SUNDAY won an award at the Shanghai Film Festival.
