SPELL YOUR NAME is a Ukrainian feature-length documentary about the Holocaust in Ukraine. Director Sergey Bukovsky combines historical footage from the USC Shoah Foundation with current footage of Ukrainian students interviewing people who escaped the killings and rescued those who were persecuted. At the same time, viewers gain an insight into contemporary ethnic stereotypes that still exist and are also evident in post-Soviet commemoration of the genocide. Filmed in 2006, SPELL YOUR NAME is itself historical testimony, it is highly topical and a voyage of discovery in several senses. Co-produced by Steven Spielberg.
Director's Biography:Sergey Bukovsky (*1960) is a Soviet Ukrainian documentary film director and actor. He is highly decorated in Ukraine ("Honoured Artist of Ukraine", "People's Artist of Ukraine") and has directed over 50 films.
