Albert Speer was Adolf Hitler's architect, armaments minister – and best friend. Both lived in megalomania, wanting to create an eternal monument to National Socialism with gigantic buildings. As minister, Speer drove the armament machinery to a peak. He was not an ignorant follower, as he repeatedly claimed, but was jointly responsible for the deaths of thousands of forced labourers. Sebastian Koch impressively plays Albert Speer, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison as a war criminal. During this time he put his diaries and memories on paper. Documents of a man who lied to himself and was complicit in the darkest chapter of German history.


Recommended for ages 12+

Director's Biography:Addresses events in recent German history. As a stylistic device, he developed the alternation between authentic film documents and scenes he had shot, the docudrama.
