Also in this year`s festival, we are happy to present our own musical movie-series. Since over 5 years, once a month, and in cooperation between the Universum-Cinema and the MusicCafé Riptide, the successful series of events “Sound on Screen” shows musical film highlights. After-show program included. At the Filmfestival, we present 10 movies in total, 5 of those being premieres. In addition to that, we invite you to the Soul&Funk party on November the 5th, starting 10 p.m. at the Café Riptide. Be delighted by five recent Spotlights: new, exciting musical movies: from post-punk heroes Killing Joke and the legendary managers of The Who to great unknowns The Residents till neofolk stars Mumford & Sons. Power to the people is the motto of this year`s series featuring five recent documentaries on Afro-american music under the banner of the Black Power Movement: from Roland Kirk`s Spiritual Jazz to the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. From spoken word to hip hop sampling by the Last Poets to Nas` conscious rap. You have reasons to be excited about 2x5 new, thrilling audio-visual experiences and, of course, a lot of amazing music!
