Schleimkeim - a punk band that realised subculture in the GDR. This band of the 80s and early 90s was colourful, loud and above all: it did not bow to the system. This is what director Jan Heck focused on when he traced the band's development on film, from their blossoming to their end. Focusing on frontman Dieter "Otze" Ehrlich, SCHLEIMKEIM - OTZE AND THE GDR FROM UNDER GROUND traverses several levels of meaning of what it was like to be a punk band within the GDR before, during and after the fall of the Wall. Through contemporary documents and interviews with remaining band members and relatives, a documentary collage is created that makes music tangible and the price of freedom visible.

Director's Biography:Jan Heck was born in Balingen in 1991. The freelance director holds degrees in "Motion Pictures" and "Time-Based Media" and began devoting himself to his interest in film even before his studies. Since 2015, he has been working as a freelance director, cameraman and editor.
