The year 1720: the Great Nordic War has ended and thus the operations of the navy. The 29-year-old vice-admiral Tordenskiold, now without any role, has been hit by boredom which he tries to escape. With his servant Kold, he sets off on an entertaining quest for a bride in Denmark and North Germany. The attractive Tordenskiold never misses an opportunity to party exuberantly, go to bed with attractive women and enter into life-threatening duels. An adventurous, provocative and dangerous journey during which the friendship and dependence between servant and admiral is marked by melancholy.
