Abel does not want to follow in his parents’ food steps and manually produce bricks for a pittance. While searching for a better life in other parts of Brazil he goes missing without a trace. Abel’s mother PUREZA reconstructs every step of her son in order to find him. In the Amazonas region she finds a world cut off from the outside, lead by oppression and inhumane slave labour. She suspects her son to be held there. With courage and perseverance, she starts a battle against the brutalized, politically tolerated conditions. Set in the 1990’s, the film alludes to real events and practices of slavery in Brazil, and to the courage with which individuals fight against the systematic violence.
