It has become a tradition to introduce recent film and video work from the local University of Arts (HBK) in its own special programme at the Braunschweig International Film Festival. Since 1972, a specific film class has been offered as an independent fine-arts class at HBK. All manner of films are made and promoted, including experimental, documentary, animated and narrative works, as well as now popular video, multimedia installations and internet art. The common element to all these projects is a personal, individual vision, free of all censorship and commercial pressures.
