IMF (Institute of Media Research) at Braunschweig University of Arts is offering advanced production facilities in digital moving images next to theoretical discourses in media sciences. Students of Media-Design, Media-Science or Media-Art – frequently forming mixed teams – are working on a wide range of contemparory cinematic productions. Methods are ranging from traditional stop-motion animation with manual techniques (where only the camera is digital), to motion-graphics and computer generated imagery (CGI), including complex compositings of real-life footage and CGI. Even the word „research“ is getting a new meaning here, not only referring to science, but also to aesthetic research into innovative uses of technology and new means of presentation like digital cinema or 360 degree „Full Dome“ projections – from which the latter can only be presented as „Making Of…“ examples at Filmfest. To mention all kinds of content from the projects is beyond the scope of this article – just come and see!
