Denise M'Baye made her debut as an actress at Schauspiel Hannover in 1995. She became known to German television audiences as "Sister Lela" in UM HIMMELS WILLEN. Most recently she performed at the VOLKSBÜHNE Berlin. She can currently be seen in productions such as the series 37 SEKUNDEN, WAS WIR FÜRCHTEN and in Sophie Linnenbaum's award-winning feature film THE ORDINARIES, in which M'Baye shone with her versatile talents and outstanding acting performance and was awarded the BIFF's 2022 Heimspiel Award for it.

A true jack-of-all-trades, she is also active as a singer, narrator for audio books, radio plays and dubbing, as well as a dancer and rapper. In addition, the woman from Lower Saxony is involved in social projects on the topic of sustainability, among other things, hosts the philosophy podcast of NDR Kultur and is also the presenter for this year's award ceremony.
