After returning from a hunt, 16-year-old Aigin finds his family has been murdered by marauding bandits. On the run, he himself is injured and taken in by a neighbouring camp. But the bandits follow his trail. The Sámi-Norwegian director Nils Gaup wrote the screenplay based on an old legend told to him by his grandfather. The award-winning adventure drama was the first cinema film to be shot in a Sámi language and was nominated for an Academy Award. The film shooting was carried out against a magnificent natural backdrop under extreme weather conditions in southern Finnmark. On some days of filming, the cameras stopped working due to temperatures of -47 degrees.

Director's Biography:Nils Gaup was born in 1955 in Kautokeino, a center of Sámi culture. After initially wanting to become a ski jumper, he studied acting at the renowned Sámi National Theater Beaivváš. PATHFINDER was his feature film debut.
