Over recent years, film festivals have become more and more important for the theatrical release of German films. With our first online-edition, we are therefore committed to offer a platform for the German-language cinema. In this exceptional year of 2020, the section “New German Films” will present work from five (in most cases) young filmmakers. Once again, we notice a particularly strong presence of female directors, who, with their socio-politically themed films, address the problems of marginalization and the virtue of tolerance.

In new, engaging ways, the viewer will be confronted with questions about identity, home, and self-fulfillment.
