"I don't think that your parents are still alive. The war ended eight years and twelve days ago. They have had plenty of time to find their way home," says grandmother Lelena to her granddaughter Yara. They are a close-knit team. Yara grew up during the never-ending war in Angola. Now she is a rebellious teenager in this time of fragile peace. She raps, wants freedom - and asks about her missing mother, Nayola. When a masked man enters the house in which Yara and her grandmother live, past and present become intertwined. Influenced by African masks and Angolan art, the film tells a visually impressive story about the harsh reality as well as the poetry of the country.
