Raphi (Raphaëlle Pérez) is French and works in a call centre in Barcelona. She dreams of the ideal relationship with a man, a "prince", but is repeatedly disappointed. When she goes to see a therapist, the therapist attests that she has "gender dysphoria", which initially confuses Raphi. Through conversations and sometimes disturbing contacts, questions arise: What is a man/woman? Do I need an operation/a vagina to be a woman? The film sensitively accompanies Raphi on her search for her identity and her place in society. The story is based on the experiences of leading actress and screenplay co-author Raphaëlle Pérez.

Director's Biography:Adrian Silvestre (*1981 in Valencia) studied in Madrid, curated film festivals and works closely with migration and LGBTQI+ groups. MY EMPTINESS AND I was a winner at the Andalusian LGBTQI+ Festival, among others.
