Music and Film - Barsotti
The Braunschweig International Film Festival presents the first ever retrospective of award-winning film music composer Marcel Barsotti. The opening night kicks off the festival with the world premiere of Sönke Wortmann’s POPE JOAN as a film concert with the Braunschweig State Orchestra and Choir. Over the course of the festival we present six feature films and two further world premieres: The silent film concert DOLPHINS and the horror film THE POWER show Barsotti’s range of musical styles. Born 2nd May 1963 in Lucerne (Switzerland), Marcel Barsotti studied composition from 1982-1988 as well as piano and clarinet at the Conservatory of Munich. Since 1995 Barsotti has composed the scores for more than 60 national and international movies. In 2010 Barsotti received the “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik” (German Record Critics’ Award) and the “Director’s Choice Gold Medal” for Excellence for POPE JOAN by the Park City Film Music Festival in Utah. In 2002 he released the first ethnic music library “Ethno World”. Clemens Williges
