Monte Verità, a hill near Ascona on Lake Maggiore, is legendary! At the beginning of the 20th century, dropouts, free spirits, artists and reformers met there. The historical figures – Hermann Hesse, doctor Otto Gross or feminist Ida Hoffmann – are joined by a fictional character: Hanna Leitner. She is running away from a bourgeois, constricting marriage, leaves her husband and daughters behind in Vienna and is searching for a way out of her depression. Torn between feelings of guilt and the fascination of a self-determined life, she discovers her passion for art and finds her own voice. The attempt at a utopia on the "mountain of truth" is told via the women.

Director's Biography:Stefan Jäger is a Swiss director, screenwriter and film producer. He is a lecturer in film directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and a lecturer in dramaturgy and screenwriting at the Zurich University of the Arts.
