„We have three Buddhist patients. The rest are 'them'.“ The tone is harsh in the small makeshift village clinic in western Myanmar. The founder is the midwife Hla, who belongs to the Buddhist majority in the country. Nyo Nyo, a Rohingya, is her student and assistant, and she translates at the clinic. Although she and her family have lived in the region for generations, they are labelled as invaders and persecuted. Despite escalating violence, Hla and Nyo Nyo work closely together. Over five years, the director accompanies the courageous, highly independent women. She creates a sensitive portrait of their ambivalent relationship and offers insights into the country's complex reality.
