Sound on Screen invites you to a stylish English Breakfast. Afterwards Philipp Krohn and Ole Löding will present their unique multimedia project ”Sound of the Cities”. A mixture of pop history, personal experiences, travel guide and tributes to music capitals and their sound. The two journalists have been avid pop music fans since their early years in Hamburg. Eventually they began to sort their music collection according to location. The step towards ”Sound of the Cities” was not far: for two years they travelled to cities around the world and spoke to 160 musicians, producers and pop music experts about what makes them unique, including The Velvet Underground, Einstürzende Neubauten, Genesis, Faith No More and Wir sind Helden. Their journey took them to the industrial cities of Manchester and Liverpool, where they traced the roots of Merseybeat and spent an eventful evening in the Northern Quarter, which is full of clubs. A must for all music lovers!
