The young star Joel Basman plays a young soldier who takes over the legacy of the Germans in Denmark. The 2. World War has ended. In 1945 over two million German landmines lie on Denmark`s West coast. The Allies and the Danish government decide to have the mines cleared by German prisoners-of-war. These are not trained to do this which makes the already life-endangering work even more risky. The film focuses not only on the unbearable tension when they defuse the mines but at the same time tells the story of guilt and atonement, an enthralling drama about a little-known chapter of postwar history.
