After a long casting day, theatre director Thomas still has not been able to find the right actress to play his lead role until Vanda turns up: she is vulgar, naïve and uneducated – but to his amazement shows she has amazing talent when giving her audition. The film is a funny, parodistic ballet of the battle of the sexes.

Roman Polanski
Born 1933 in Paris, the director, writer and actor of polish origin is one of the most important directors worldwide. His work encompasses almost all genres and deals in a black-humoured way with the absurdities of life.
