KÖPEK is the title of Esen Isik`s powerful film debut, Köpek, the dog: for, in a certain way, the whole story began with a dog. Esen Isik is witness to an accident where a dog is left abandoned, helpless, at the side of the road. With an authentic and attentive eye, KÖPEK shows us three individual fates in Istanbul. The ten-year-old Cemo, the married Hayat and the transexual Ebru live here. All three do everything within their power to fulfil their desperate longing for love - even if it is only for a brief moment. Isik believes that the film is an instrument for forming political opinion. She hopes to be able to show her film at important festivals, in Turkey as well.
