Based on the novel by Kazumi Yumoti, JOURNEY TO THE SHORE tells of a couple that, after the death of the man, set off on a quest for their past life. ”After his death he looks, together with his wife, how their life together was, how he lived his life. He does this as a dead man - which is unique”, says Kiyoshi Kurosawa. The journey of the dead man with his living wife takes them to places which he visited before his death and where they also meet other walking deceased persons who live amongst people. The film is a overall stylistically successful mix as a love story and (gentle) horror film.
