We are delighted to announce that this year for the first time the filmfest will be showing a music film series on its very own. For over 4 years the film series “Sound on Screen” has been successfully taking place once a month organized by the Universum cinema and the music Café Riptide and has shown music film highlights with an aftershow programme. 10 Films will be shown (4 German film premieres) consisting of 5 brand new “Spotlights” as well as 5 films with a political background, “Music is my Weapon”. After the German premiere of the legendary BritPop band Pulp (PULP – A STORY ABOUT LIFE, DEATH & SUPERMARKETS), there will be an after-show party in Café Riptide on 13.11.. Further spotlights of our series will be the concert film BIOPHILIA LIVE (Björk), GOD HELP THE GIRL (director: Stuart Murdoch of Scottish cult band “Belle & Sebastian”), HEAVEN ADORES YOU (singer songwriter Elliot Smith) and OUR VINYL WEIGHTS A TON. And “Music is my Weapon” films include PUSSY RIOT: THE PUNK PRAYER (scandalridden Russian punk band), FINDING FELA (African activist), TROPICALIA (revolutionary movement in Brasil), EL GRAN RIO (Guinean rapper),and the more universal MUSIC & COEXISTENCE.
