This year 10 European productions are competing for the coveted trophy ”The Heinrich”. The audience judges which film wins the competition for best debut or second film. The prize, worth 10.000 Euros and donated by Volkswagen Financial Services AG., will be shared by the film producers and the German distributors. First up is I`LL BURY YOU (Belgium), a quirky comedy about a realtor`s attempts to get rid of his old neighbour, with unexpected outcomes. More unforseen things happen on a boat trip in the thriller ANDAREVIA (Italy), while in the THE TREE a Slowenian family is stuck in a hopeless situation. BOTA (Albania) is a remote cafe where two girlfriends live but want to get away, while in A GOOD LIFE (France), a father and his two sons have been on the run for years. BARBARIANS is an authentic portrait of a young Serbian football hooligan from Belgrade. In the fast-paced THE GOOB (UK) a young man, caught between pumpkin harvest and stock car racing, confronts his violent stepfather. The black comedy AFTERLIFE (Hungary) surprises with whimsical ideas about a difficult father-son relationship. Three people`s lives are mysteriously linked in the psycho-thriller MAGICAL GIRL(Spain) and strange things also happen in the German entry ZERRUMPELT HERZ, when an eccentric composer disappears.
