Hans Steinbichler born in Chiemgau. He studied in munich. Hierankl is his film debut. His film WINTERREISE was nominated for the German Film Award, his film DIE ZWEITE FRAU won the Grimme-Award. Since January 2013 he works as a teacher at the Filmschool Cologne.
