The Green Horizons Award will be presented for the sixth time, this year as part of the section “International Documentary Films”. Four new documentaries compete for the EUR 2,500 cash prize. Next to cinematic quality and depth of research conducted by the filmmakers, a special focus of attention was directed toward ideas for alternative solutions and initiatives. Under discussion are burning global issues: the floods of plastic fabricated by the US-American oil industry, illegal logging, perspectives after Germany’s nuclear power phase-out, and the alternative farming method “permaculture”. All four films are highly topical, visually impressive and univocally committed to “tell their story”.
