The man of the house, Leopold, becomes furious when he finds a letter under the door of his wife's room with the inscription "For Elise". The letter contains sheet music for a piano piece with a time and a meeting place written on it. Leopold arms himself with a sword and is in for a surprise when he catches Elise "in flagranti".
