In the 21st year of their cooperation, the Braunschweig International Film Festival and the State Orchestra Braunschweig invite you to a world premiere to the Volkswagen Halle Braunschweig. For the first time, Laurent Perez Del Mar's music, which was awarded "Best Original Score for an Animated Film" by the International Film Music Critics Association, will be performed live alongside the film. The red turtle that gives the film its title is huge. It repeatedly stops a shipwrecked man from leaving a deserted island. Anger begins to build up in the man. But when he defeats the animal, it turns into a magical creature...
THE RED TURTLE "tells a multi-layered story about the cycle of life as well as about guilt and forgiveness in beguilingly beautiful images. A touch of Shinto wafts through this contemplative animated film that builds a bridge between Japan and Europe", writes the Filmdienst.
The opening concert is presented in cooperation with the Braunschweig State Orchestra and sponsored by the Braunschweig Cultural Heritage Foundation.
The film concert will take place on Monday, November 6th, 2023, at 7pm.
