The young Pole Hans travels to Strasbourg during the Cold War in the 1970s, where he hopes to find his biological mother. He recounts having been adopted as a baby, and is taken in by his uncle's family. His uncle is a member of the European Parliament and helps Hans to find a good job. At the same time, shipyard worker Jan Bitner in Sopot, Poland, discovers adoption documents amongst his deceased mother's papers and starts researching...

In this gripping psychodrama, Jan Holoubek tells the story of how big politics can influence or even destroy the lives of ordinary people. In the process, the film develops into a spy thriller.

Director's Biography:Jan Holoubek, born in Warsaw in 1978, graduated from the Lòdz State University of Cinematography in 2001. His feature film debut 25 YEARS OF INNOCENCE earned him numerous awards, including the Audience Award in the Main Competition of the 35th BIFF in 2021.
