Germany shortly before capitulation. Canteen cook Lena gets to know the young officer Hermann Bremer and then hides him in her flat after he decides to desert. She conceals from him that the war has ended although he eventually finds out. Lena throws herself into her work and invents the German national dish – the curried sausage.

Ulla Wagner studied Theatre Studies, Journalism and German Studies in Berlin. Since 1981 ishe is working for televison and cinema. Shortfilms and tv-series are part of her work as well.
