West Berlin in the winter of 1978: A bunch of bored dropouts, united more by blind activism than by real ideals and political ideas - their slogan is Schopenhauer’s “Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung” (The world as will and representation) - kidnap the representative of an American computer company on the 27th of February 1978, Carnival Tuesday. What the would-be terrorists do not realise is that they are being manipulated: An international computer corporation is skilfully exploiting their actions for its own purposes. The aim is to force the state to buy new surveillance computers. The black comedy starring Udo Kier premiered in Cannes in 1979. Rainer Werner Fassbinder: “I don't throw bombs. I make films.”
Director's Biography:Rainer Werner Fassbinder (1945-1982) was a German director, actor, screenwriter, film producer, composer and playwright. Although Fassbinder only lived to the age of 37, he made over 40 feature films and revolutionized German cinema.
