Competition »KINEMA« -Feature Film

Adolescents enjoy going to the cinema and talk about movies. This common interest is the focus of the Franco-German youth award »KINEMA«, which will be awarded for the 9th time by the 29th International Filmfestival Braunschweig. The concept was developed in a cooperation with the Lower Saxon schoolcinema project “Kinema” and the Franco-German Youth Office. Because of that, an active participation by adolescents of both countries in an international festival is made possible. A six-person jury consisting of young French and Germans in the Age of 16 to 21 decides on an awardee between six debut and second movies. The French movie curator Amélie Desserre will support the jury’s decision making jury with bilingual discussions. The competing movies TREPPE AUFWÄRTS, DER BUNKER and 4 KÖNIGE are German productions; MAX & LENNY hails from France, KEEPER from Belgium and LE DÉP is a Canadian contribution. The »KINEMA«-Award is supported by the state of Lower Saxony, the Franco-German Youth Office, the region Haute-Normandie, the Académie de Rouen, the Friedrich-Walz-Foundation and Antenne Métropole of the metropolitan area of Hanover-Braunschweig-Göttingen-Wolfsburg.
