João escapes the poverty of his home town and moves to Brasilia in pursuit of happiness and to avenge his father’s death. He finds a job but also gets involved in drug dealing. One day he falls in love with a rich senator’s daughter and then wants to escape from the repressive and dangerous milieu – but that is easier said than done.
