Amal is a teacher at a secondary school in Brussels. She tirelessly encourages her pupils to express themselves freely and accept one another. However, with her bold teaching methods and enthusiasm, she disrupts the lives of her pupils. Some are outraged when she supports Monia, who is suspected of being a lesbian. This gripping drama which addresses mobbing at school, homosexuality and religion is set in a frightening climate. Director and screenwriter Jawad Rhalib masterfully orchestrates this multifaceted story. The magnificent leading actress Lubna Azabal was honoured for her role at the 2023 Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn.

Director's Biography:Belgian director Jawad Rhalib is an experienced screenwriter and journalist. In his award-winning documentaries and feature films, he deals with various social issues. AMAL is his fourth feature film.
