In calm pictures, the search for a 19-year-old young Moscow man who has disappeared in St Petersburg is portrayed. This creates the framework for delightful to harrowing insights into everyday Russian life. The investigating detective encounters fleeting acquaintances of the sought man, his own old friends from his Petersburg times and mafia-type gangsters. During this, we experience random different forms of exhaustion, despair, mistrust and longing for the old times. In poetic but gloomy images full of melancholy and diillusionment, the detective story turns into an accusation against a city standing still and a plea for the helpless people that live there.
